Established in 1992 by Czech war correspondents, People in Need (PIN) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting human dignity, freedom, equality, and solidarity. Headquartered in the Czech Republic, PIN operates in dozens of countries worldwide, providing humanitarian aid, promoting human rights, combating poverty, and addressing social inequality. Over the past three decades, it has grown to become one of the largest non-profit organizations in Central Europe.
PIN focuses on providing critical humanitarian assistance in crisis regions, supporting recovery efforts, and empowering individuals to overcome poverty and discrimination. Guided by principles like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Red Cross Code of Conduct, PIN addresses root causes of social and economic challenges, including lack of education, unjust treatment, and poor governance. The organization also supports civil society, fostering open dialogue and improved governance in transforming and authoritarian regimes.
It is part of Alliance2015 and NeoN, collaborating with European NGOs and state administrations to enhance the impact of its work. Through its comprehensive programs, PIN strives to create a more informed, engaged, and equitable global society.
