Originally established in 1968 as the Centre for Scientific, Fundamental, and Applied Research of Sion (CRSFA), CREALP was created by the Canton of Valais and the City of Sion to promote applied research in geology, hydrology, and climatology, particularly in Alpine regions. Officially renamed CREALP in 1998, the Centre’s scientific activities gained momentum in 1987 under the guidance of the Cantonal Geologist, solidifying its role as a key player in geoscientific research and environmental solutions.
