Three-day Training Workshop on MyDewetra VOLTALARM EWS for the Volta Basin Countries

Under the implementation of the Volta Flood and Drought Management (VFDM) Project,  Project implementation partners (WMO, VBA and GW-WA) with the technical support of CIMA Research Foundation are conducting a three-day technical training workshop on MyDewetra VOLTALARM Early Warning System (EWS) mainly on the development of the Impact based forecasting and procedure for issuing early warning. The training session is attended by more than 30 staffs of the National and Regional Agencies involved in flood and drought monitoring, forecasting, and warning services namely national meteorological and hydrological services, disaster management, water resources, ECOWAS, AGRHYMET, WASCAL etc.

The ongoing workshop will also be an opportunity to increase and strengthen the practical experience needed by hydrometeorological and civil protection service providers to make the best use of the different products and functionalities already available in the myDewetra-VOLTALARM EWS platform (currently being operationalized).

The project is implemented by the World Meteorological Organization, Volta Basin Authority and Global water Partnership-West Africa and it is funded by the Adaptation Fund.
